The Pacific Crest Trail Association, The High Cascade Forest Volunteers and the Willamette and Deschutes National Forests invite you to attend the annual volunteer training weekend. The sessions offered are designed to train new and returning volunteers. The training weekend offers the opportunity to meet other people who are interested in working to provide quality recreation experiences for forest visitors.

The hours you spend at the training sessions, all the hours you spend volunteering for projects and your travel time to and from the training and projects are valuable to the Forest Service and the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

This training event is offered to volunteers free of charge, in an effort to inspire citizen stewardship of our trails. In exchange, we suggest that you donate at least 16 hours of your time over the year volunteering on the many projects offered by the High Cascades Forest Volunteers and the Pacific Crest Trails Association.

This years volunteer training weekend will be held May 4-6 at White Branch .   Registration for the weekend opens March 1st. through the web page: http://www.highcascadesvolunteers.com/Training/SpringTraining.html

    • 04 May 2018
    • 7:30 PM
    • Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire House Community Hall, 301 S Elm

Author and hiking guru William L. Sullivan will take us on a slide show tour of new and changed trails he discovered while updating his "100 Hikes" guidebooks for Oregon on his annual visit to the MAC on Thursday, April 12th at 7pm. Although some trails closed in 2017 because of fire, Sullivan balances that news with descriptions of an equal number of new destinations from around the state. We'll visit a reopened waterfall trail in Central Oregon, learn what's changed in the Columbia Gorge, sample a new section of the Oregon Coast Trail, and explore hot springs in Eastern Oregon. As always, Sullivan spices his talk with anecdotes about history, wildflowers, and geology along the way.

The presentation will be in the community room at the Sisters Fire Station at 301 S Elm St Sisters, Oregon. Doors open at 7:30 pm and presentation will begin at 8pm.
